Original Imperial German WWI Bavarian Model 1855 Officer Sword with Scabbard
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a genuine vintage World War I German Model 1855 Officer's Sword, from what was then the Kingdom of Bavaria. It is still in very good condition, with a lovely aged patina, and comes complete with its original black painted steel scabbard. It features a brass hilt with a "P guard", and a "Dove Head" pommel. The grip is sharkskin, which originally would have been wrapped with wire, however those are now missing. The sharkskin was then painted with white paint for some reason, possibly to simulate ivory for display. The 33 inch blade is bright steel, and in very good condition, showing no major damage and only minor oxidation issues. There are etched panels on both sides of the blade, showing foliate designs wrapped by a banner with the Bavarian motto IN TREUE FEST. (steadfast in loyalty). The original leather blade buffer is still present, and in good condition. The hilt is secure on the tang of the blade. The scabbard is in very good condition,
