New Made Reproduction: This is the standard smooth butt plate for the British issue Martini-Henry MkII rifle. Steel butt plate without checkering. Copied from an original in the IMA collection. These measure about 1.7 inches wide, and is 4.8 inches long. The spacing between the screw holes is about 3.2 inches, center to center. These are designed to fit original British Martini-henry butt stocks, and do not know if they are compatible with any others. Fitting may sometimes be required. The Martini–Henry is a breech-loading single-shot rifle with a lever action that was used by the British Army. It first entered service in 1871, eventually replacing the Snider–Enfield, a muzzle-loader converted to the cartridge system.
