What makes these blankets truly unique is the hot spring felting tradition found only in Momostenango. Twice a week, the artisans carry freshly woven blankets to natural volcanic hot springs, where the steaming waters naturally shrink, soften, and felt the wool — creating the dense, plush texture Momo blankets are known for.
