Topaz (Mt. Antero)
TOPAZ, MICROCLINE, CLEAVELANDITEBlue Star ClaimsMount AnteroChaffee CountyColorado2.3 x 2.1 x 1.2 Inches 6 x 5 x 3 Centimeters Small Cabinet Being from Colorado I'm always on the lookout for a rare specimen from our diverse range of minerals found across the state. Mount Antero is widely known for producing some of the finest aquamarine and phenakite crystals from North America. The mining process can be brutal - Many of the claims reside at over 13,000 feet! This specimen is a rarity because topaz on matrix is very rarely found, during the 2024 mining season a small pocket was found and produced 5 exceptional specimens. This particular specimen has a nice sherry colored topaz that measures nearly 1 cm and around 8 more smaller crystals. This find and this specimen was published in the Jan.-Feb. 2025 issue of the Mineralogical Record
