Burundi Nkonge Hill
We're pleased to bring to you our first offering from the remarkable Long Miles Coffee Project. We had been trying to work out the logistics of partnering up with Ben, Kristy, and their team for the last several years, and finally it has worked out. We plan to continue this relationship for years into the future, offering some of the best of Burundi's produce while supporting the worthy initiatives of the project. This first offering comes from the Heza washing station on Nkonge hill in the Kayanza province of Burundi. It's a lovely example of a classic washed process Burundi coffee with balanced fruit notes that reminded us of persimmon - specifically the American persimmon we occasionally enjoyed in our native Florida. The fruity notes are rounded out splendidly by some nice lower tones like caramel and brown sugar. Life has a different pace on Nkonge hill. There is a stillness on the hill that is hard to find anywhere else in Burundi. You can walk for stretches on this green car
