​Fiber: Custom spun, single ply 100% US mulesing-free Merino Care: Hand Wash Ball Size: 25g/.88 oz - 98 meters/107 yards ​ Gauge: 24-28 sts/28-36 rows over 4” on US3 (3.25mm) - US7 (4.5mm) needles Our single-ply merino is grown on small farms in the Rockies and milled in North Carolina. The yarn is hand-dyed at our studio in North Adams with acid dyes using processes that are gentle to the environment. The yarn is untreated so it must be washed by hand or it will felt. Though the yarn is a single-ply, our dyeing process strengthens and slightly felts the yarn, making it plump and stronger than you'd expect. The yarn has a loftiness that allows for it to be knit at multiple gauges - as is reflected in the gauge range we list above. Our unique and intense dyeing process creates smooth gradations in deeply saturated colors. We do offer dye lots but there will be variations even within dye lots due to the nature of hand dyeing.
