Andrés Martin:  "Flare" was composed in the second half of 2024, following a commission fromthe International Society of Bassists. The request was for a short, single-movementwork to serve as the required piece for the 2025 International Solo Double BassCompetition at the ISB Convention.I envisioned this piece as an encore, designed to highlight the virtuosity of the soloist.While technical proficiency is important, the main focus is on creating a strong sense ofgroove and energy!
