Jazz Reflections - tapestry

Jazz Reflections tapestry by Atlanta artist Corey Barksdale. Barksdale was raised in a family of artists. His grandmother's brilliant quilting skills, and his mother's intuitive feeling for detail and design are at the root of his creative expression. During his education at the Atlanta College of Art, Barksdale became heavily influenced by the works of abstract expressionists such as Jasper Johns and Clifford Still, as well as by African-American masters, including Aaron Douglas and John Biggers, among others. He is a prolific Atlanta artist, with a conviction to give back to his community through art education. Jazz Reflections I is a fine example of his work. Colorful, jazzy, and full of rhythm and life.
