Different varieties can be found along the coast or in the mountains. Historically, these paper-thin blossoms were strung together into lei worn by Hawaiian Royalty. Many hundreds of blossom are needed for a single lei but as they’re ephemeral, they quickly wilt by the following day. Today, they are still incorporated into lei as a pop of color. ‘Ilima blossoms are edible! Traditionally, they were used medicinally to treat digestive troubles, asthma and other ailments. ⁂ Details
