The Silent World

Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park awaits the sun on a day of twenty-below zero. Cottonwoods covered in thick frost stand guard over a quiet land where spring seems a distant memory from a half-remembered dream. It's a beautiful time of sleep for a land in the dead of winter, but there is life here. Bison grazed behind me while taking this shot, and the tracks of ermine crossed mine when I returned to my truck.  This is a 3:1 panorama offered in several sizes on various media.
