Vega Style "M" Tubaphone Tenor Banjo (1926) No. 71822

Here for sale is a sought-after 1920s Vega Style M in very good playable condition. (Serial No. 71822). This fine 17-fret tenor banjo features an 11" Maple rim with 28 brackets, Maple "Pie" resonator with tortoise bindings, a dark Ebony fingerboard with decorative abalone inlay, decorative "torch"headstock inlay, and a quality tubaphone tone ring. The instrument appears all-original with the exception of a recent installation of new Waverly tuners, a new armrest and a new "fiberskyn" head. The scale is 21.25" and the nut width is 1-1/8". Other than some minor tarnish and dings as would be expected of a vintage banjo, this lovely old Vega it pretty untouched. The neck is straight and the action is comfortable (about 3mm at the 12th fret) with a low bridge. It is currently set up for "Irish Tenor" with thicker strings at lower tension for E, A, D, G tuning but could easily be restrung for standard tuning.
