Illustrations for Publications

Third Ward Map Illustration for Cite Magazine Thankful to be a part of this team of very talented architects and thinkers. We were recently awarded a grant from Rice University for our Third Ward research project that traces the history of the space in Houston. I created a multilayered painting on five large sheets of plexiglass that examines each aspect of Third Ward’s identity between 1943 and 2017. Our goal was to tell a story that’s never been told before concerning the effects of the construction of Highway 288 and the desegregation of schools and other public facilities during the 1960’s. There will be three iterations of our research project. The first version will be an illustration and article in Cite architecture magazine. The second will be an art exhibit which will be displayed in the Third Ward at Emancipation Park and Project Row Houses.
