Canandaigua Boathouses

I photographed this iconic scene of the Canandaigua boathouses just one week before the Canandaigua Art and Music Festival, where I was scheduled to show my work. I really wanted to have something local for my customers, but I had only been in town for about a month. Realizing I had very little time to photograph and print an image before the show, my wife and I, along with our dog, Nashville, raced toward the pier as the sun was getting low. Luckily, we made it before the sun dropped below the horizon and I was able to create art with this beautiful scene.Some scenes and images represent an experience much broader than the scene itself. For me, this particular image produces within me feelings associated with summer - The thrill of hot, sunny days at the lake that ends in a kaleidoscope of color. Connecting with family and friends at outdoor parties. Sunset walks along the pier with my wife, our son, and our dog. This list goes on and on if I let myself daydream.
