Little Tokyo Velocity is an image inspired by Joel Nakamura’s uncle Larry Shinoda, designer of the 1963 Corvette—a symbol of mid-century American speed and style. The artwork channels that iconic car’s sleek lines and dynamic energy while weaving in elements of Japanese pop culture found in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo. Neon signage, manga aesthetics, and retro-futuristic tones merge to honor the vibrant spirit of a community that has continually redefined identity through resilience and creativity. Created in tribute to the Japanese American National Museum, the piece bridges personal memory and cultural legacy, celebrating the fusion of heritage, innovation, and velocity. Digitally printed with archival inks and paper, this print is available in two sizes: 9"x 12" / (image size  8'x 10"), and 11"x 14" / (image size 9"x 11")
