They show minor signs of wear and tear including scuff marks and worn finishes. Please refer to the pictures to get a better idea of the physical condition. The rollerball pen works, but we're uncertain how much ink remains. We tested the fountain pen by drawing in test water and expelling it through the converter and it functioned as you'd expect, but when we attached the nib it no longer drew in or expelled test water. The finish appears to look like carbon fiber, but we're uncertain if it is real carbon fiber or just a finish.
