It's a sight that never fails to inspire calm contemplation. It's simultaneously a stark landscape and one teeming with life just beneath the surface. For a biosphere that contains one thing, salt water, the diversity of creatures and plants is like nowhere on earth. It's forces are planetary. The tide are imperceptible until they aren't.
