Three Hawaiian Moon Jellyfish
Aurelia malayensis Sizing: Small= 1-1.5” diameter, Medium= 2-2.5” diameter, Large= 3”+ A tropical species of moon jellyfish native to Hawaii and the indo-pacific. Compared to the standard moon jellyfish kept in aquariums (Aurelia coerulea), I find these have a more flowy almost flowery appearance. The four stomachs in the center of their bell sometimes grow into a heart shape as well, giving them an incredibly unique aesthetic. Hawaiian moon jellies are a warm water species, doing best at 75-77 F. This makes them ideal for those that live in warm climates or keep their homes on the warmer side. Aside from their difference in temperature, Hawaiian moon jellies have similar care requirements to other moons. They’re hardy and do well in a variety of jellyfish aquariums.
