“Hecate” is a goddess of the Ancient Greeks who ruled over the sky, sea, and earth. The Hecate Wheel is her symbol. Some Greek myths have it that Hecate was in charge of breaking and “Casting Spells”. Hecate decided to stand guard at the gates of hell. Here, torch in hand, she protects her people from being swept into the underworld by evil spirits. Therefore she was known as the goddess of “Boundaries” and the “in between spaces”.  As such, the goddess Hecate has been seen to be the guardian of the crossroads, hallways and doorways. This evolved with time, and she became the guardian of magic and witchcraft.  She was believed to be a goddess of both the living world and the underworld. Hecate was described as a single goddess with three parts. Her triplicate form enables her to observe approaches from all angles and directions.
