"I was never buried. I was planted" "Nunca fui enterrada. Fui sembrada." “What didn't you do to bury me but you forgot that I was a seed.”  (by Dinos Christianopoulos, Greek poet and scholar.) was the inspiration. When I first read that, it touched me deeply. I was a teenager at the time. I have heard many different variations of it over the years, and this is my own. It came to me again as I was creating this piece, this version of my Frida as a Catrina but without her cigarette. This version, her hand is a perch for her budgie parakeet. The circle of life in full bloom. Accepting death as a human condition but living life from the POV of Spirit; eternal love.
