Chinese Ginger Jar #1

Vintage Chinese blue and white porcelain ginger jar is hand painted with central double happy symbol featured, 20th century. The lid on this jar has a snug fit, as to be expected with any hand made item. When placing the lid onto of the jar, you may need to turn the lid until you feel that perfect fit slide together. The history of Ginger Jars dates back to the Qin Dynasty days (around 227 BCE-207 BCE!) as a way to store valuable spices such as salt and ginger. Today interior designers use these historic beauties as a way to add color and character to a space. Measures: 9.5" Height x 8" diameter, 6.5" diameter base.
