Victorian Foster & Bailey Sterling Silver Bulldog Pin
This figural Foster & Bailey high relief, sterling silver brooch or pin is a charming addition to any antique silver collection. Theodore Foster was a partner in the silver shop White & Foster (est. 1873). When Samuel Bailey joined the firm, it became “White, Foster & Bailey.” Upon White’s retirement in 1877, Foster & Bailey was born and the company continued in that iteration through the late 1800’s. Although they produced a range of silver products, figural jewelry by Foster & Bailey, such as this bulldog pin, is much less common. The brooch / pin measures approximately 23.31 mm long and 25.23 mm from ear to ear. He weighs approximately 3.0 dwt. He is hallmarked with the “F&B” flag and “STERLING.” Well over 100 years old, he has developed a wonderful patina that only increases this item’s value.
