Junco in Snow

Acrylic and oil on canvas, 20 x 16 x .5" I used to watch Dark Eyed Juncos when I lived on the east coast of Canada and was a natural history interpreter/guide at a waterfowl park. They were just "backyard birds" but absolutely enthralled me. I often imagine myself as a bird during storms and what it must feel like to weather them with only feathers and what shelter you can find between you and the elements.  I love the neutral pair of Juncos in this painting series. I often go for big bold color, so it is nice to luxuriate in the simplicity (and complexity?) of all this grey, green and white.
