Matin (morning)

Acrylic on canvas, 30 x 40 x 1.5" This was one of the first two paintings I created that sparked the rest of the series. They began as underwater paintings that I used to create an animation. In the later stages of the paintings, the reflections emerged and the effect was something I couldn't have predicted. The reflection became the calm, still anchor of the piece, with the chaos of the water-energy surrounding it. This painting's mate, "Aube (dawn)," now sold, hung in the "Majoring in Art: Higher Learning" Exhibition in Fort Worth, TX.
