"Leader" and "Whip" hose purposes and benefits: (a) ORANGE hoses are 10-foot "Safety Leader Hoses" to warn the operator that the high-pressure nozzle is nearing the cleanout or basin. (b) BLACK hoses are "Whip Hoses" to connect nozzles with smaller connector-fittings than your jetter's main hose. (e.g. 1/2"x 3/8" connects a 3/8" Warthog to a 1/2" hose, or 3/8"x1/4" connects a 1/4" RootRanger to a 3/8" jetting-hose, etc. for other nozzle types) ALL types also take the abuse of debris kicked back by the jetting-nozzle, saving wear-and-tear on your main jetting hose
