William Jacob Baer (American, 1860 - 1941) Miniature Portrait of a Young Girl, under glass, in gilt brass frame. Conte crayon and oil paint, the youth facing right, with bow in her red hair, blue eyes, and a white christening dress fringed in blue. Signed W J Baer, center right, in blue. Circa 1900. 4” H. (Including the hanging section), 3 1/4” x 2 3/8”.  Baer is considered a great miniaturist, who became the first president of the American Society of Miniature Painters, located in New York City.
