Wolf And Raven

Wolves and ravens have a symbiotic relationship that Western scientists are only recently coming to understand. Ravens and wolves are often found in proximity to one another, and ravens often "steal" and store meat from wolf kills. Ravens have thus been called "kleptoparasites," but this interpretation misses a key aspect of the relationship: ravens seem to act as scouts for the wolf packs, flying high above the ground and calling out to the wolves when they find a dead or vulnerable animal. Ravens cannot kill large mammals themselves, and even if they find a dead moose their beaks are not powerful enough to do much more than pick at the surface. Wolves are able to tear into carcasses, giving ravens access to the nutritious viscera.
