To many, Pulaski NY is known for the salmon run.  But the salmon river is home to another species that is the crown jewel of serious anglers.  The steelhead is regarded as the hardest freshwater fish to land.  It is the holy grail for any serious angler, especially on the fly.  It is a test of one's will, and not for the faint of heart.  This image captures that beautifully, as I watched this woman that I know battle this in single digit temperatures (f) while wading in water below freezing.  This is the lower fly zone, the place weak anglers come to die, and where the strong are rewarded.
