Chris was one of the first young Santa Barbara surfers to grow up watching Tom Curren shred Rincon, being raised on finely tuned Al Merrick surfboards and, perhaps most importantly, enjoying the full support of a dad who enthusiastically encouraged him to follow Curren's path. Small wonder, then, that Chris, after winning his own U.S. Championship, went on to become one of California’s most successful professional surfers.
