Antique Victorian Writing Slope (Lap Desk)

Lap desks like this one were popular from the 1800's-1900's. They were crafted from high quality materials, but also designed to be lightweight and portable. These writing slopes were favored by people who frequently needed to travel, such as military officials or writers. This lap desk is made from walnut and its interior is lined with velvet, with storage compartments for writing utensils, extra paper, small tools, etc. It has a simple design etched into its lid, with sturdy brass fixtures.  This piece is in excellent antique condition, with no visible wear on the exterior and a couple very light scratches on the interior pencil compartments. This comes with a couple small extra panels of wood to split up the writing utensil compartments. It is missing the key to lock it.  Width 13", Height 9", Depth 5" All Sales Final.
