Although this can be a draining experience, recognizing it also gives us an opportunity to examine ourselves, take ownership of our own experience, and latch onto hope for greater personal power and authority. With some luck and determination, we can create distance (even if only in small ways) from whatever is draining us of ourselves, and proceed with dignity and grace.
