Hawaiian Pipeline Closeout

John Pitre's "Hawaiian Pipeline Closeout" is a collaboration between Don Merkle who took the photograph, and John's artistic flavor to the giant and unforgiving reef break at the world-famous Banzai Pipeline, located at Ehukai Beach Park in Pupukea on Oahu's North Shore. Pipeline is most known for its shallow reef that forces incoming ocean swells into a tube-like wave that surfers can ride. Waves at Pipeline average around 9 feet (3m) but can go up to 20 feet (7m).
