The nickname was given to Jimmy by a studio head due to his obnoxious habit of racing around the studio lot on his 500cc Triumph motorcycle with an open exhaust which would have created a hell of a racket, disturbing all filming.  The 130 Little Bastard Porsche was James Dean's last drive into immortality.
