Water-soluble graphite or pencils, sometimes called "watercolor graphite," combine the properties of traditional graphite with those of watercolors. The graphite in these pencils can be used dry to create traditional pencil marks, or you can add water to them to produce washes or blending effects that resemble watercolor painting.
