SPIEGELBILD | Candle Table

Spiegelbild, the German word literally translates to 'mirror’s picture’, is a sculptural candle table explores how we become who we are. It invites the question: Are we shaped by who we are or by what surrounds us?What if the reflection we chase was never truly ours to begin with? Made from 3D-printed quartz sand and post-processed and finished by hand in our studio, the sculpture appears chiseled from a geometric block of rock. A glass cover rests above, completing the lower half into a perfect cuboid, which shows a beautiful contrast of how two different materials unite to merge into one form. The mirror frame functions as a candle vessel where candle sand can be poured into it. A second glass lid covers the opening when not in use, allowing the piece to serve as a fully functional table.
