March/April 1980 1st edition "Couples" Description Chwast’s cover symbolized the quintessential couples relationship. A portfolio of famous duos included James and Dolley Madison by Chwast, prince Rainier and Princess Grace by Zagorski, and Leda and the Swan by Shongut. ʻCoitus Topographicusʼ, a map combined with a page from a sex manual, rendered by Liz Gutowski, added a touch of whimsy to the proceedings. Started by Push Pin Studios as a freeform publication sent to friends and clients in 1957, the experimental and groundbreaking Push Pin Graphic, quickly developed a dedicated following, eventually running for 23 years and 86 issues. Changing to a 32-page bimonthly in 1976, and continuing publication until 1980Art directed and designed by Chwast, the featured articles and fiction edited by Ken Robbins supported the theme for each issue.
