From The Artist: Spring Morning was painted during a season of rich practice with new materials. The cool, flaxen foreground and pink sky were both thoughtfully pushed onto the page with soft oils; windswept tree trunks were carved out of the delicate material while the periwinkle tree line recedes into the background. This place was the perfect view to capture the mood of an early spring morning. The pale yellow grass leaning over from the weight of the morning dew, and a cool misty sky pulling up the rising fog— offering an expectant feeling of a warm afternoon.
