Wishes and Warnings, Gala Flagello (2023) 3'for violin and viola Wishes and Warnings (2023) explores the resonance and warmth of a single, quintally focused chorale through the lenses of texture, register, and articulation. In this way, the piece’s musical material becomes alternately hopeful and distraught, a lullaby and a proclamation, both wishing with and warning the listener of imagined happenings to come.
