Antique Roe-a-Deer Statue
Not usually a 'figurine' type-a person, Amy happily made an exception for this lovely antique porcelain deer. Here in North America, we're not as familiar with the 'Roe Deer' depicted here - a reddish-brown deer Native to Europe. This Roe doe deer has found a spot to rest so we can admire her beautiful antique craftsmanship and subtle glaze variations. This piece was produced by Sitzendorf in Western Germany between 1918 and 1920 - the era when the "S" underglaze marking was present on their products, as seen here. We love the hygge vibes she brings, making a serene choice for winter decor-scapes, but also an obvious choice for elevated Christmas display. Antique German made porcelain deer figurine, made by Sitzendorf Includes the S underglaze marking Stamped 29553 Dimensions: 7" wide, 6.5" tall This is a pre-loved dandie; in excellent antique condition, no observed chips or cracks. Perhaps minor wearing of glaze on tips of ears and only the most minor crazing observed.
