Antique Small Class 1909 MFL Cross Medal Missing O'Ring

Please do review all of the photographs as they are of the actual item you are buying. Unknown metal used. Small antique cross engraved with the initials MFL on one side and the back side engraved Class 9. I am assuming that is meant to mean class of 1909, but I am not certain. Missing it's o'ring and purpose.  Would look great with a nice new ribbon mounted in a shadow box. Please do check out my other items as I am happy to consolidate shipping!
