JYR Workshop cellos are handcrafted by our richly experienced luthiers. The quality of workmanship goes far beyond this price range. The tops are made of good quality Asian spruce, and the back and ribs are made of aged maple (aged and dried a minimum of 5 years). Plenty of inventory of tonewood and experienced luthiers allow us to make various replicas of cellos made by the old masters, such as Stradivari, Amati, Maggini, Guarneri del Gesù, Rugeri and Guadanini. From beginner level to professional cellos are all available.e. The tonewood is naturally dried outside on a covered, ventilated area for 5+ years. The wood is then placed into a drying room, consistent with old world traditional European practices. This process ensures that the wood will not open or expand, and guarantees overall stability The Cello produces an even and focused sound with a warm and smooth tone.
