The ADVAN Racing R6 is the latest addition to the ADVAN wheel lineup, making its debut at the October 2018 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Featuring a distinctive six-spoke design and a deep, step-rim profile, the R6 draws clear inspiration from the popular RG-D2 model, but reinterprets it for a new level of performance and presence. The concept behind the R6 was to evolve the RG-D2 design into 20-inch applications, pushing the limits of size and styling while maintaining strength and precision. To meet these high standards, Yokohama employed the mold-form forging process—the same advanced technique used in the transition from the 18-inch TC series to the 20-inch GT. However, the R6 is no simple remake. While it echoes the DNA of the RG-D2, it introduces a bold new expression. The step-rim form in a wide 20-inch format was designed to offer a dramatic visual contrast to the deep-rim GT, giving the R6 a unique identity within the ADVAN Racing family. Yokohama’s confidence in the design direction paid off with the successful development of a prototype and its unveiling at SEMA. The ADVAN Racing R6 stands as a striking example of how forged technology and innovative design can come together to elevate performance and aesthetics. While maintaining the sleek, exquisite lines, the 6 spokes are carefully elongated into the 20-inch form. And look closely at the concave shape, with the spokes on the inner side of the step rim, which results in uniquely curving lines. Advanced side cuts on the curved spokes bring them together at the inner forks, not only reducing weight, but also highlighting the curves. Then the stepped deep rim, a special feature of the R6 wheel, strengthens the visual impact of the large-diameter wheels. The final impression? The depth of the rim is available in three types: standard, medium, and extra. Each of the three, including the step portion, are deeper than GT wheels. The color lineup includes the popular Machining & Racing Hyper Black, and a new one called Machining & Black Coated Graphite, as well as a bold design finish called Racing Candy Red.
