Contemporary Clay Sculpture "Together Apart"

SOLD The internet teaches us that we're never the only one doing something...and one thing I do sometimes is look at my hands in various positions. I had the notion I would do black and white photography of hands--they're so beautiful and weird and interesting, but it's been done before (well, so has everything else...). This is my second piece where I experimented with hand shapes. The emotional content is ambiguous--is this conflict or connection? I composed it for the visual beauty of the hands, one palm up, the other down, and the arrangement of the fingers. The longer I lived with it, the more I felt that the interpretation is up to the viewer. The two separate wooden bases emphasize together...apart. -- Free shipping.
