THE SEKHMET STORYBY THERAPEUTIC PERFUMER KATE BECKER February 2023 Bastet Perfume Society Perfume of the Month  In 2017, on a visit to the Egyptian wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, I found myself inexplicably drawn to a giant statue of Sekhmet; the lion-headed solar goddess of the Egyptian pantheon. She is known as a fierce protector of truth, a goddess of destruction with potent transformational qualities and a ferocious healer. As I stood next to this statue, the veil of time dissipated and I felt captivated by a magnetic pull. On that day the formula for this perfume downloaded and necessary fierceness arose within me. Fast forward to December 2022. Last month on my visit to Egypt a dream came true when I was blessed to visit an ancient statue of Sekhmet in her chapel at the Temple of Karnak.
