OK. How’s about a 7-color + gold silkscreen with lowercase + caps by notable calligrapher and scribe Donald Jackson? It was printed in Puerto Rico under the direction of Lorenzo Homar and inscribed to designer Howard Gralla when he visited in 1979. The print comes from a 1978 portfolio published by the Government Development Bank for Puerto Rico (obviously) in which Jackson wrote “The alphabet shown here is based on the pointed Gothic of Edward Johnston. [...] Pointed Gothic comprises a bold and daring family of letters. I have tried to underscore their inherent vigor, and further communicate their forceful quality with the addition of strong modern colors.” A total beauty—and the first from a pile of Homar items we’ll be offering before too long. Get ready.
