Timothy Hull: The Survival of Antiquity
Signed and numbered edition of 190 by Timothy Hull 2 color screenprint on 100lb French, 2019 The drawing that has become this print is based on observational work done at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The glass vitrine and the rhetoric of their display scheme has been an ongoing interest in my work. I seek to highlight the spatial relationship between objects, the intention of placement by the curator and the vagaries of observation. The singular pink vase in this print is a way of creating a special moment for one piece within the crowded field of many objects. The survival of antiquity is a testament to the will-to-life of these objects, which have far outlived their creators and their intentions.
