Frozen Bloom

An original botanical cyanotype print of a mesquite tree leaf.  This luminous print has incredible detail, both within the leaves and the background. This detail was captured by using a wet cyanotype technique where reactive materials were added before exposure to the sunshine.  If you look closely at the background texture, you'll see the effects experimenting with soap bubbles, ground salt, plastic wrap and subtle toning from baking soda applied before the print was pressed under glass and exposed to sunlight.  This 9x12 print is sealed under cold wax then mounted on a 1.5" gallery depth birch wood panel.
