"Over The Hill"

A young fawn follows a Sha'lak'o "Over The Hill" while its mother and a group of chatty magpies watch. This original acrylic painting by Anthony Gchachu is an expression of the inspiration found in the high vista view. Rendered in the cool colors of the "Winter Solstice" collection within Anthony's "Land of The Shalako" series, we are treated to darkest blues and violets fading into lavender and azure in the far distance. The Zuni New Year begins with the winter solstice when a new religious cycle begins with a new calendar.
