Tomato (Old Ivory Egg Tomato)
Old Ivory Egg Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Old Ivory Egg Tomato, also known as Australian Yellow Plum. An heirloom well named as it's fruit is the size (1 x 2"), shape and approximate color of a chicken's egg. Offered in the 1986 SSE Yearbook by Thane Earle of Whitewater, Wisconsin who noted that the seeds were from Australia. Regular leaf plant produces 2-3 oz., pale, ivory, tomatoes that eventually turn creamy-yellow. This beautiful yellow tomato has become one of our favorites because the mild, sweet flavor has a hint of citrus and the plants are super-productive. We like to add this variety to salads and eat them as a snack in the garden while harvesting.
