Gem Silica is a rare specimen. Its' color comes from copper salts and it is a form of chalcedony. Gem Silica can only be found in two mines in the US and has been depleted from most mines in other parts of the world. It is a softer stone and must be handled with extreme care. The way the lapidary artist cut these stones makes it mimic the ocean. It reminds me of an ariel view of the Pacific Coast where the ocean meets the cliffs. All jewelry is handmade by Kiki Creative Jewelry on St. John in the US Virgin Islands.
