ONAQUI MOUNTAINS, UTAH, 2009 Every time I turned around during my time in Skull Valley Utah this stallion was within close proximity. While being quite comfortable around horses and reading horse energy, my initial thought was he is definitely “watching” me, however at the end of the five days it felt as though he was watching over me. The experiences I had with him and his band have forever changed me. Quietly sitting within the herd on my last day the camera was put down and it was time to thank mother nature for the joy she had just shared with me. Through tear filled eyes saying thank you to him and repeating a promise that had been made years ago...to the best of my ability I will help tell their story, make sure they matter, have a voice and be seen. In fall of 2009, a “last minute” round up was executed, this herd was stripped down to an extremely low number of horses from the herd of about 2-300 strong.
